Abstract:   (11 Views)
Background and Aim: Wars have always had irreparable consequences on the lives of civilians, especially children, a reality clearly observable in the Middle East. Children caught in armed conflicts find themselves in the most severe conditions, requiring support from international organizations such as the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). This study aims to evaluate UNICEF's performance regarding violations of children's human rights in armed conflicts in the Middle East, with an emphasis on the genocide of Palestinian children by the Zionist regime.
Method: This research employs a descriptive-analytical method, utilizing documents, international reports and documented cases of human rights violations to assess UNICEF's actions during the Gaza crisis.
Results: The findings indicate that UNICEF lacks strong and deterrent enforcement mechanisms to end violations of children's rights in armed conflicts in the Middle East, particularly the genocide of Palestinian children. The organization exhibits significant structural and operational weaknesses.
Conclusion: Inadequate condemnation, insufficient measures, biased accusations, lack of independence and silence in the face of genocide in Gaza are among the most critical criticisms leveled against UNICEF. To effectively protect children in armed conflicts, it is essential to reform the organization's supervisory structures and ensure its operational independence.
